CANTEL MEDICAL CORP. (NYSE:CMN) and the National Safety Council (’NSC’) announced a joint marketing and distribution agreement to help businesses and other organizations prepare for the threat of a flu pandemic and similar infectious diseases. The World Health Organization continues to track the incidence of avian bird flu throughout the world and warns of the potential of mutation of the H5N1 virus that could result in a widespread human-to-human pandemic.
Under this agreement, Cantel Medical, an established leader in Infection Prevention and Control products to the medical and dental markets, through its Saf-T-Pak and Crosstex business units, will manufacture National Safety Council/Saf-T-Pak co-branded Flu Defense Kits and other product configurations that will include Crosstex face masks, hand sanitizers, gloves and surface disinfecting products.

Vizzaccaro also answered questions about the reliability of May”s data; early last month, Net Applications discovered that a large-scale online marketing campaign aimed only at IE users had skewed April”s numbers, and it erroneously claimed that both Firefox and Safari dropped significantly in market share. It recalculated the data and issued an update May 7.
‘Each report now has a QA stamp on the bottom once it”s been reviewed and confirmed,’ said Vizzaccaro. ‘We want to continue to get our market-share data out as quickly as possible, and this gives our readers a way of knowing when the data has been confirmed.’

Chris Pick, vice-president of productions and marketing at NetIQ in the US, says that in the past 15 years organisations have been reactive in implementing security procedures, such as firewalls and anti-virus software, to reduce risks and threats.
NetIQ is and US-based security management consultant and Mr Pick was recently in Australia for one of its security seminars. He says things are different now, and the major trend in addressing internet security concerns in the US is the convergence of IT security and operations processes.
For example, he says the Sasser virus from about three years ago caused a lot of confusion in many organisations because people in IT security and IT operations followed different procedures.
‘Security people followed incident security processes and didn”t understand the critical impact on systems.
